WOMEN'S SWIMMING FALLS IN OPENER

The University of Richmond women's swimming team won 10 of 16 events and defeated UMBC in Head Coach Chad Cradock's debut, 182-118, in Richmond, VA on Friday. Sophomore Astrid Sperling and freshman Lindsay Prather led the Retrievers with two victories each. Sperling captured the 100 yard backstroke (59.90) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:06.41, while Prather won the 100 yard breaststroke (1:05.15) and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:23.58). Prather's time of 1:05.10 set a new Retriever record in the event. Sophomore Holly Wittsack triumphed in the 200 yard butterfly (2:06.65), while classmate Katrin Harssen took the 500 yard freestyle in 5:08.91. UMBC opens its home season with a dual meet vs. Navy on Saturday, November 3.
