CANEPA EARNS SECOND TEAM DISTRICT II ACADEMIC ALL AMERICA HONORS

Senior swimmer Carlos Canepa (Lima, Peru) earned Second Team Men's At-Large All District II Verizon Academic All Ameirca honors. The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Canepa spearheaded the men’s swimming team’s 12-1 record and helped UMBC capture the school’s first America East Conference title this past winter. He won both the 500 and 1650 freestyle events and is currently training to compete for the Peruvian Olympic team. Canepa carries a 3.50 grade-point average in the major of Information Systems.
