MEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING LOSES HEARTBREAKER TO NAVY, 122-121

    Baltimore, MD – Going into the final event with a 117-109 lead, UMBC (1-1) generated four points in the 400 freestyle relay, while Navy (4-1) claimed 13 points, to secure the 122-121 victory for the Midshipmen this morning at the UMBC Natatorium.

     

    In the meet, Navy captured first place in six of eleven events, including both 1-m and 3-m diving, both sprint free events, and both relays. The Mids were led by diver Kevin Teague, who won both the 1-m and 3-m diving events.

     

    UMBC was paced by senior Carlos Canepa (Lima, Peru/Santa Maria) and junior Jakub Sroczynski (Zielona Gora, Poland/VII Lo). Canepa dominated the distance free events, taking first place in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle, while Sroczynski finished in the top spot for both the 200 backstroke and 200 freestyle. 

     

    UMBC returns to action next Saturday, November 8, when they travel to America East Conference foe Binghamton for a dual meet at 1 p.m.
