Former NJIT assistant Rob Franc joined the Retrievers in December 2008 as the assistant director of aquatics and head age group coach for the Retriever Aquatics Club.
Franc was the head dryland and strength coach at NJIT, helping the Highlanders transition into an NCAA Division I swim program. Franc earned his degree in society technology and science from NJIT in May 2007 and taught three university courses, including life guard instruction and introduction to swimming, upon his graduation.
Franc founded the Pilot and Final Program, a swimming program for inner-city minority children in Newark, N.J. It was the first of its kind in the state and served more than 80 youths.
In the summer of 2008, Franc worked at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., as a swim camp instructor where he coached swimmers ages 8-18.
