2008-09: Earned silver in the 200-yard breaststroke and placed sixth in the 100 breast and seventh in the 400-yard individual medley at the America East Championships… Won the gold in the 200 breast and silver in the 100 breast at the Patriot Invitational… Placed first 10 times during the season including eight times in the 200 breast and twice in the 100 breast… Swam season-best times in the 100 breast (58.07), 200 breast (2:03.49) and 400 IM (4:05.76) at the America East Championships… The 100 and 200 breast times rank seventh and third, respectively on UMBC’s all-time list… Named to the America East Honor Roll.

 

Background: Selected to the All-South Jersey second team in 2008 and third team in 2007… Named to the All-Conference first team in 2007 and 2008 and to the second team in 2006… Garnered Most Valuable Swimmer for his class all four years of high school… Elected senior captain for Cherry Hill East for the 2007-08 season.

 

Personal: Son of Mary and John Mendenhall… Has two siblings, Casey and Kristina… Majoring in biology with a career ambition of being a physical therapist… Born Feb. 23, 1990.
