2007-08: Named the Most Outstanding Male Rookie at the America East Championships after setting a new school, conference meet and University of Maine Wallace Pool record as part of the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:42.44) as well as claiming gold in the 100 and 200 butterflies, silver as part of the 200 medley relay, and bronze in the 200 individual medley and as part of the 400 medley relay… Also won the 100 fly in a meet record time of 49.70, won the 200 fly and 200 IM, placed second in the 200 free and was part of the winning 800 free, 200 medley, and second-place 400 free and 400 medley relays at the Patriot Invitational… Finished the dual and championship meet seasons undefeated in the 100 fly and won the 200 fly at seven dual meets during the season, losing in just one, against Navy… Held UMBC’s fastest times of the season in the 50 fly (23.42), 100 fly (49.70), and 200 fly (1:51.25)… His 100 fly time ranks fourth in the all-time top ten, 200 fly is fifth, and 200 IM (1:51.92) fifth as well… Was named the America East Swimmer of the Week for the weeks ending Nov. 12 and Nov. 19.

 

Background: Swam for Howard High School in Ellicott City… Member of the Retriever Aquatic Club under UMBC coaches Chad Cradock and Chris Gibeau… Part of the RAC team that won the Pittsburgh Invitational.

 

Personal: One of four children to Fred and Joanna Reitz… Has two brothers, Freddie (21) and Todd (16), and one sister, Chelsea (18)… Brother Freddie is a senior on the UMBC swimming and diving team… Majoring in engineering… Born June 2, 1989.
