Kirsty Carrihill-Knoll returns to the Retrievers after serving as a part of the UMBC diving staff during the 2003-04 season.
Carrihill-Knoll, a native of Harare, Zimbabwe helped propel fellow diving coach Jon Gdowik to two new school records in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, as well as an NCAA Zone Championship qualification.
Prior to coming to UMBC, Carrihill-Knoll served as the head diving coach at Georgia Southern University from 2001-2003 and has also coached at Arundel Girls High School in Harare, Zimbabwe, and Leon County and Lincoln high schools in Tallahassee, Fla.
Carrihill-Knoll was a member of the diving team at Florida State University from 1997-2000 where she represented the Seminoles at the Atlantic Coast Conference and NCAA Championships and she has also competed for the Zimbabwean national team.
In 1996 and 1997, Carrihill-Knoll was crowned the Zimbabwean Women’s Open National Champion and qualified for the Zimbabwean Olympic team in 1996 and 2000.
In addition, Carrihill-Knoll is an active member of the USA and Baltimore Field Hockey Association after serving as head coach of the Arundel Girls High School and St. John’s College field hockey teams in Zimbabwe.
Carrihill-Knoll graduated from Florida State in 2000 with a degree in psychology and minor in business and earned her master’s of science in kinesiology from Georgia Southern in 2003. She resides in Baltimore, Md. with her husband, Michael Knoll.
