2005-06: Took silver in the 50-free, fifth in the 100-back and sixth in the 100-free at the America East Championships…also swam on the second-place 200- and 400-free relays and anchored the third-place 200-medley relay at AEC’s…won the 50-free in dual meets against Towson and Bucknell and took second against Rider, Marist and Seton Hall…won the 100-free against Towson…finished second in the 200-free against New Hampshire and Howard…swam UMBC’s fastest 50-free time of the season (21.21)…led off the winning 400-free relays against East Carolina and Towson, anchored the winning 200-medley relay against Howard and the winning 400-medley relay against Bucknell, and swam on the winning 200-free relay against Howard…selected to the America East Winter All-Academic Squad and the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll…swam season bests in the 100-free (47.40) and 100-back (52.65) at AEC’s.

 

2004-05: Took fourth in the 100-back, fifth in the 50-free and seventh in the 100-free at the America East Championships…also swam on three relays at AEC’s…placed ninth in the 50-free and 23rd in the 100-free, and swam on four relays at ECAC’s…won the 50-free in dual meets against George Washington, Towson and Marist…took second in the 50-free in dual meets against William and Mary, Rider, Navy and Johns Hopkins.

 

2003-04: Was a member of the second-place 200-free and 200-medley relay teams at the America East Championships…also placed seventh in the 50-free and fifth in the 100-back at AEC’s.

 

Background: Graduated fifth in his high school class…was his team's MVP during his sophomore, junior, and senior years…still holds his school record in the 50-, 100- and 200-free, as well as in the 100-back, 100-breast, 200-IM, 200- and 400-free relays and 200-medley relay…named Ocean County Championship Swimmer of the Meet in 2003 after winning both sprint freestyle events…also won the Ocean County 50-free title in 2002 and the Shore Conference 50-free crown in 2003…selected to the Asbury Park Press All-Shore first team and the Ocean County Observer All-County first team in the 50-free in 2002 and 2003…a Newark Star-Ledger All-State Third-Team selection in the 100-free in 2003…a three-time YMCA National Championship qualifier…part of the 2002 and 2003 Ocean County YMCA All-American 200-free relay team…OCY record-holder in the 100-free, 100-back, 200- and 400-free relays and 200- and 400-medley relays…2003 Ocean County Observer Swimmer of the Year…plays the drums and guitar…chose UMBC over numerous other schools because it was the most "close-knit team" where he felt he would instantly fit in…son of Thomas and Helen Conway…has two older sisters, Elizabeth and Kathleen…born May 9, 1985…majoring in English and hopes to become a journalist.
