SOFTBALL'S STREAK ENDS AT 13 WITH DOUBLEHEADER SPLIT AT ST. FRANCIS (PA)

Loretto, PA - UMBC's 13-game win streak came to an end as they split a doubleheader with the Red Flash of St. Francis (PA), dropping the first game, 4-3, before bouncing back to win the nightcap in eight innings, 2-0. UMBC is now 33-18 overall and 15-3 in the Northeast Conference.
In game one, junior Lauren Hebb led the Retrievers, going 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBI's. Freshman Amy Sadowl was tabbed with the loss as she gave up four runs on ten hits to drop to 15-6 on the season.
In game two, junior Crystal Beveridge scored the game-winner on a throwing error in the eight inning. Sophomore Kristie Pickeral drove in Hebb for the go-ahead run. Pitcher Lauren Nicholson improved to 14-7 with the victory.
