The Retrievers dropped three of four at the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational on Sunday and Monday, picking up a 3-2 victory against Howard on Sunday. In the circle, Brown has accounted for three of the Retrievers’ five victories and has a team-best 2.14 ERA. Sophomore Miranda Clark (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) has fanned 23 batters on the season and is holding opponents to a .250 batting average in 10 appearances.
The Mount (2-12) snapped a four-game losing streak with Sunday’s 8-0 win against Howard as part of the UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational. Pitchers Nicole Pagano and Hayley Stankan combined for a no-hitter against the Bison. Pagano tallied nine strikeouts in four innings of work. Freshman Rachel Gavigan led Mount St. Mary’s offensively, belting a grand slam as part of a perfect 3-for-3 performance from the plate.
Junior Cat Clifford has a team-best 11 hits, five of which were home runs. Gavigan and Clifford each have eight RBI on the season.
In the circle, the Mount has used a three-person rotation, with Pagano leading in appearances (10) and innings pitched (40.2). The redshirt junior has fanned a team-best 50 batters on the season.
