Three Retrievers Named to UMBC Retriever Classic All-Tournament Team

Lauren Brummell had four hits this weekend.

BALTIMORE—Seniors Lauren Brummell (Hanover, Va./Hanover), Julia Culotta (Street, Md./North Harford/Tennessee) and Stephanie Weigman (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding)  were named to the UMBC Retriever Classic All-Tournament Team, UMBC head coach Joe French announced Monday.

Brummell batted .667 in two games at the rain-shortened tournament this weekend. She went 4-for-4 with a run, a double and two RBI in UMBC’s 6-1 win over Siena, while Culotta batted .400 with a run, a double and an RBI. Weigman tossed a complete game two-hitter against the Saints, striking out six while picking up the victory.

The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday, when they host Delaware at 2:30 p.m.
