Softball Drops First Game of UMBC Retriever Classic to Mount St. Mary's Friday

    BALTIMORE—The UMBC softball team dropped its first game of the UMBC Retriever Classic, 9-0, to Mount St. Mary’s Friday afternoon at UMBC Softball Stadium.

     

    Mount St. Mary’s pitcher Amanda Sadowl (2-0) limited the Retrievers to three hits, while striking out four.

     

    UMBC starter freshman Kayla Martinez (Odenton, Md./Arundel) (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs in three innings of work.

     

    Beth Everist went 4-for-4 with three runs batted in to lead the Mount.

     

    The Retrievers return to action Saturday for Day Two of the UMBC Retriever Classic, facing off against Siena at 3:30 p.m. Stay tuned to UMBCRetrievers.com for any changes made to the Retriever Classic schedule due to rain in the forecast.
