Fefel Named ECAC Division I First-Team All-Star
Amanda Fefel batted .331 with 13 home runs and 35 RBI in 2010.
An America East All-Conference First Team selection for the fourth consecutive year, Fefel batted .331 and ranked in the top five in the league with 53 hits, 13 home runs, 35 RBI and 101 total bases. Her 13 homers match her career high for the fourth-highest single season total in school history. The third baseman/pitcher added nine doubles and 33 runs, slugged .631 and reached base at a .401 clip. Fefel also went 4-5 with a 2.64 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 21 appearances on the mound, and she earned a school-record and league-best four saves.
One of UMBC’s most prolific power hitters, Fefel finished her career with a school-record 43 home runs while collecting 147 RBI and 219 hits, including 77 for extra bases, which all rank among the Retrievers’ top 10 totals all-time. She also picked up 32 victories and a school-record eight saves in the pitcher’s circle, striking out 294 batters in her career, the fourth-highest total in UMBC history. A career .336 hitter, Fefel was named UMBC’s co-Most Outstanding Female Senior Athlete at the varsity awards banquet earlier this month.
