Pageís Walk-Off, Fefelís Gem Power Retrievers to Game One Victory Over Boston University, 3-1; Terriers Take Nightcap, 11-3

BALTIMOREóSenior catcher Amanda Page (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia/Monroe CC) hit a 3-2 pitch over the left field fence with one out in the seventh inning to lift the UMBC softball team (21-18, 2-6 AE) to a 3-1 victory over defending America East champion Boston University (21-16, 6-2 AE) in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at UMBC Softball Stadium, but the Terriers took the nightcap, 11-3, in five innings.

Fefel (4-2) allowed one run on five hits and struck out seven in the complete game victory. Hardy (12-6) struck out 13 batters without allowing a walk in the loss, but was charged with three runs on five hits in 6.1 innings of work.

The Retrievers scored a run in both the fourth and fifth innings on a solo home run by sophomore pinch hitter Kaela Mason (Bel Air, Md./Harford Tech) and an RBI groundout by Weller after junior second baseman Lauren Brummell (Hanover, Va./Hanover) led off the fifth with a double, but it was not enough, as the Terriers took the game, 11-3.
