Stephanie Weigman earned her second America East Pitcher of the Week award.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.UMBC sophomore hurler Stephanie Weigman (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) was named America East Pitcher of the Week for the final week of the season, the conference announced Monday. The award is Weigman’s second of the season, as she also earned the honor on March 16.

Weigman, who is tied for the league lead in wins with 22 this season, tossed a pair of complete-game shutouts against Hartford to send the Retrievers to the America East Championships for the fourth straight season. She allowed just three hits and struck out 19 in 11 innings of work.

Already the owner of UMBC’s single-season wins and strikeout records with 22 and 284, respectively, Weigman also eclipsed the program’s all-time strikeout mark and now has 425 in her career.

The Retrievers (34-19, 12-8 AEC) are the No. 4 seed in the America East Championships, which take place May 7-9 at Stony Brook. UMBC will take on the Seawolves at 1 p.m. on Thursday, with No. 2 Boston University facing No. 3 Albany at 3 p.m.
