BOSTONBoston University hurler Cassidi Hardy tossed her third no-hitter of the season to lead the Terriers (21-10, 2-1 AEC) to a 4-0 victory over UMBC (20-12, 2-2 AEC) Saturday afternoon at the BU Softball Field. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader will now be played as part of a twin bill on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. due to rain in the Boston area.

The Terriers got on the board in the first inning on a solo homer by center fielder April Setterlund, then added three in the third on an RBI double by right fielder Caitlin Rentler and a two-run homer by second baseman Emily Roesch.

Hardy retired the first nine batters of the game before UMBC second baseman Lauren Brummell (Hanover, Va./Hanover) walked to lead off the fourth. With one out, designated player Lauren O'Malley (Pasadena, Md./Archbishop Spalding) reached on an error to put runners on second and third, but Hardy escaped the jam by inducing a double play.

Hardy struck out seven to improve to 10-4 on the season. UMBC starter Stephanie Weigman (Elkridge, Md./Archbishop Spalding) suffered the loss to fall to 13-9. She allowed four runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out two in seven innings.
