VECCHIO, PICKERAL RECEIVE NEC TOP SOFTBALL HONORS

UMBC senior shortstop Deanna Vecchio was named Northeast Conference Softball Player of the Year and freshman third baseman Kristie Pickeral earned Rookie of the Year honors, as voted by the league's coaches. The Retrievers (41-18) are the #2 seed in this weekend's NEC Tournament. Vecchio earned first team honors, along with junior outfielder Lisa Boone and freshman utility player Christina French. Pickeral and senior hurler Linsi Moy earned Second Team honors.
