KRISTIE PICKERAL NAMED NEC SOFTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Pickeral makes it back-to-back NEC Rookie of the Week honors after another terrific performance at the plate in UMBC’s 2-2 week. Pickeral batted .500 (7-14) with four doubles and three RBI, and sparked the Retrievers’ to a doubleheader sweep at Monmouth on Sunday. In the first game of the twinbill, she went 3-4 and drove in a key insurance run as UMBC came away with a 6-5 victory. Pickeral laced two doubles and drove in two runs as part of a 2-4 performance in the nightcap as the Retrievers blanked the Hawks, 6-0. The native of Hughesville, MD is currently tied with teammate Jess Graziano with a team-high 40 RBI and ranks third on the clubwith a .350 batting average.
