RETRIEVER SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH ROBERT MORRIS

    The Retriever softball team fell to Robert Morris (13-13, 6-2 NEC), 5-0 earlier in the afternoon, but came back to win the nightcap, 6-0 behind Linsi Moy's complete game effort today at the UMBC Softball Stadium. UMBC (24-13, 6-2 NEC) has now won 17 of their last 19 games.Robert Morris was the first to strike in game one, getting five runs on three hits against Retriever starter Angie Amedro in the sixth. The Colonial's big inning was capped by a grand slam by senior Lauren Dickinson, who also earned a win for pitching a 4-hit complete game shutout. In the nightcap, UMBC got on the board early after senior Bonnie Nevin led off the second inning with a double to left field. Dickinson would walk Christina French and give up a double to Abbie Kahn to give the Retrievers a 1-0 advantage. Later in the same inning, UMBC would score another on a wild pitch by Colonial reliever Erica Riggle, and two more on an error by Melissa Matteson. The Retrievers would add another two in the fourth to secure the 6-0 win. For the game, Moy gave up six hits while striking out two to earn the victory.
