UMBC Softball Announces 2007-08 Clinics

Baltimore-UMBC head softball coach Joe French will host four clinics during the 2007-08 school year, including two elite outdoor clinics in the fall and two indoor sessions during the winter.
The Annual Elite Outdoor Clinics will take place on Sunday, Sept. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The morning session will including hitting drills, pitching, fielding and throwing, while the afternoon session will feature live intrasquad scrimmages to showcase and hone skills at the UMBC Softball Stadium.
French will direct winter indoor clinics on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2008, and Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the RAC. The sessions will cover hitting drills, pitching and defense.
The clinics are offered for girls ages 8 to 18. Interested participants are encouraged to sign up quickly as spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-up registration will be held 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
Each clinic costs $55, but special rates are available for attending multiple sessions.
The clinics will be conducted by French, his coaching staff, current UMBC softball players and guest travel ball coaches. French led the Retrievers to the America East Conference championship game in May.
