ANGIE AMEDRO NAMED NEC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Amedro takes home NEC Pitcher of the Week accolades after going 3-0 with a save and two shutouts last week. She notched shutout victories over La Salle (3-0, 4 K’s) and Sacred Heart (1-0, 9 innings, 5 K’s), and also picked up a win over FDU (10-2) to close out the week and help improve UMBC to 20-11 overall and 4-0 in NEC action. She returned to the mound in the nightcap versus La Salle to secure her second save of the season. On the week, Amedro allowed just two earned runs on 25 hits in 23.1 innings pitched, while striking out 10 and walking two. On the year, she leads the team in wins (9-3), ERA (2.19), innings pitched (86.2) and strikeouts (47). With the strong start to her senior campaign, Amedro has now earned the #1 spot in the Retrievers pitching rotation.
