Baseball and Softball Changes for This Weekend
4/12/2007
BALTIMORE--The UMBC baseball and softball series scheduled for this weekend have been changed, due to predicted precipitation.
The baseball series at the University of Maine has been moved to Eastern Connecticut University due to snow accumulation from last week in Maine as well as forecasted snowy conditions over the next few days. The games, rather than playing a four-game series over three days will be played as double-headers on Friday and Saturday, with a nine-inning affair on Friday followed by a seven-inning affair and a seven-inning game, followed by a nine-inning game on Saturday. The start time for Friday is 3 p.m., while Saturday's games are currently slated to begin at 3 p.m. but may be pushed back to 6 p.m.
Due to predicted high amounts of precipitation, the softball series against Vermont originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday has also been moved to Friday and Saturday, with Friday slated for a single game at 4 p.m. and a double-header scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m.
Between games on Saturday, the Retrievers will honor members of the 2002 team in celebration of the fifth anniversary squad that won a school-record 47 games, won the Northeast Conference and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, winning three contests.
