The Retriever softball team extended their winning streak to eleven with a double-header sweep of Sacred Heart, 1-0 (9 inn) and 6-1, yesterday at Fairfield, CT.UMBC (18-11, 2-0 NEC) came out victorious in the first game, shutting out the Pioneers 1-0 in nine innings of play. The Retrievers were able to score when shortstop Deanna Vecchio advanced to third on a bunt by Lisa Boone, and would come home on a wild pitch. Senior Angie Amedro received her career-high eighth win, while recording her second straight shutout, fourth total for the season. In the second game, Christy Sheppard, Christina French, and Lisa Boone each contributed a single, a double, and an RBI to lead UMBC to a 6-1 victory over Sacred Heart. Senior Linsi Moy struck out three, while allowing only four hits to earn the win.
