UMBC Softball Drops Two at George Mason

Sophomore Krista Kearns gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits in four innings in the first game and took the loss. Left fielder Ali Bryan went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI to lead the Patriots.
The Retrievers managed only five hits in the game, and both runs were unearned off George Mason starter Rachel Hastings.
The Patriots jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings before the Retrievers scored single runs in the fourth and fifth. George Mason added two in the bottom of the fourth.
UMBC held a 3-0 lead after three innings in game two after solo homers by Dana Shepherd, Amanda Fefel and Ashley Gray. The Patriots got on the board with one run in the fourth, then scored three times in the fifth for the 4-3 victory.
Gray allowed all four runs in the complete game loss, but only one was earned. She allowed four hits and struck out four in six innings. Paige Krystofinski earned the victory after allowing three runs on six hits in 5.1 innings, while Arielle Weinkofsky picked up the save with 1.2 innings of scoreless work.
The Retrievers return to action Thursday with a single game against
