UMBC EXTENDS WIN STREAK TO NINE WITH SWEEP OF LA SALLE

The UMBC softball team extended their winning streak to nine games with victories over LaSalle (6-8), 3-0 and 14-5, yesterday at Philadelphia, PA. In the first game, centerfielder Lisa Boone went 4-for-4 with one run and one stolen base, while catcher Bonnie Nevin knocked in two runs in the third inning to power the Retriever offense. Senior Angie Amedro recorded her seventh win of the season with her complete game effort against the Explorers, allowing eight hits and striking out four in the 3-0 shutout. UMBC (16-11) would go on to sweep LaSalle, winning the nightcap, 14-5. Freshman Kristie Pickeral continued to swing the bat well, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, as did Crystal Beveridge, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI's and a homerun.
