UMBC SOFTBALL DROPS SERIES FINALE TO VERMONT, 7-1
Dana Shepherd scored the Retrievers lone run on Sunday.
Burlington, Vt. - The UMBC softball team (41-13, 9-5 AE) dropped a 7-1 decision to Vermont (13-21, 4-10 AE) on Sunday afternoon in America East Conference softball action at Archie Post Field on the campus of the University of Vermont. Aimee Kern for the Catamounts stifled the UMBC bats, allowing three hits and striking out 10 for the complete game win.
UMBCís lone run came in the second inning as Dana Shepherd led off the inning with a single through the right side. Kern would sit down the next nine batters in a row and cruised down the stretch, allowing UMBC four base runners the remaining five innings of the game.

Boyd took the loss to fall to 8-2 on the year after allowing three runs on seven hits in 3.0 innings pitched.
