SHIRK, WARD NAMED TO SEAHAWK CLASSIC ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Kali Shirk was named to the Seahawk Classic all-tournament team after hitting .353 with five runs and nine steals in six games.

Reilly Ward was named to the Seahawk Classic all-tournament team after hitting two home runs.

Wilmington, N.C.-UMBC sophomore Kali Shirk (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and junior Reilly Ward (Olney, Md./Sherwood) were named to the Seahawk Classic All-Tournament Team, host UNC-Wilmington announced Sunday evening.

Shirk got off to a scorching start, hitting .353 (6-for-17) at the weekend tournament with five runs scored. She also stole nine bases in the six games and has not been caught in 26 consecutive attempts to start her career, a UMBC record.

Ward smashed two home runs on the weekend, both solo shots. The roundtrippers were the 17th and 18th of her career, moving her four behind Taryn McDonald for second place in UMBC history.

The Retrievers were 3-3 at the Seahawk Classic and won the consolation championship. They next travel to Fairfax, Va., to take on George Mason.
