UMBC SOFTBALL ANNOUNCES DAWG POUND EASTER INVITATIONAL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

3/28/2005

Host UMBC Retrievers named four players to the All-Tournament Team for the Dawg Pound Easter Invitational, while Canisius, Liberty, Niagara, and Sacred Heart each had two, and Binghamton named one. A Most Valuable Player was not chosen due to the brevity of the tournament, caused by rain.

The Retrievers, who went 2-0 to claim the Gold Division title, named junior Amy Sadowl (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro Horsham), freshman Kali Shirk (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), and sophomores Jessica Taylor (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales) and Reilly Ward (Olney, Md./Sherwood) to the team. Sadowl was the winning pitcher against Niagara, and also batted 2-for-5 with an RBI during the tournament. Shirk was 3-for-7 with a run scored, while Taylor threw for a shutout in the win against Sacred Heart. Finally, Ward, who went 3-for-5 with two runs scored during the tournament, also plated the winning runs against the Pioneers.
