UMBC SOFTBALL WINS BOTH ENDS OF DOUBLEHEADER WITH MORGAN STATE

Baltimore, Md. – The UMBC Softball team (19-19, 0-2 AE) swept Morgan State (10-16) in softball action on Tuesday afternoon at the UMBC Softball Stadium. The Retrievers took game one by a final score of 9-1 in five innings and defeated the Bears, 4-0 in game two. Lauren Nicholson picked up the win in game one to move to 7-5 on the year while Amy Sadowl won game two to move to 6-6 on the season.
In game one the Retrievers scored in all five innings except the fourth en route to tallying nine runs on 14 hits. The top of the Retrievers lineup did the most damage as Amanda Bile went 2-for-4 with three runs and an RBI from the lead-off spot. Tara Lindsey, batting second, scored three runs after drawing two walks, and batter number three, Sara Crowell, went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Nicholson went 5.0 innings allowing two hits, one run and striking out five while walking no batters.
In game two the Retrievers and Bears played a much closer game with no score heading into the bottom of the third when Kelly Claar hit an RBI single to drive in the first run of the game. UMBC would score two in the fourth and one in the fifth as Tara Lindsey belted a homerun.
