Baltimore, Md. - UMBC Head Softball Coach Joe French announced that seniors Crystal Beveridge and Sarah Crowell, and junior Kristie Pickeral have been named tri-captains for the 2004 season. Crowell was a 2003 Northeast Conference Second Team Utility Player, while Pickeral was last year's NEC Player of the Year.
"I expect these three players to do a fantastic job in being leaders for our young team, on and off the field," said French. "These young ladies are being asked to carry on the recent success of UMBC Softball as we join the very competitive America East Conference and are getting ready to play the toughest schedule in school history."
This year's team introduces nine newcomers on the 17-player roster. These three captains' past experiences as student-athletes should enhance this year's squad.
