BACKGROUND: A three-time Cumberland Times-News Player of the Year… Struck out a school-record 481 batters in her career, 165 more than the previous mark… Also set the Maryland state record with 20 career triples… Posted a 13-2 record, a 0.22 ERA and 167 strikeouts as a senior… Also batted .514 and posted a .540 on-base percentage with 38 hits, including 10 doubles, eight triples and three home runs, to go along with 10 steals, 32 RBI and 29 runs scored in 2009… Named to the Cumberland All-City Team after not allowing an earned run and gave up just three hits while striking out 32 in 16 innings against city competition… Batted .493 and slugged .957 with 35 hits, eight doubles, five triples, five homers, 28 RBI, 33 runs scored, 10 steals and a .588 on-base percentage as a junior… Also posted 14 wins, a 1.42 ERA and 161 strikeouts while allowing just 69 hits in 103.2 innings in 2008… Led the Sentinels to the 2008 state title and back-to-back regional championships and state finals appearances… Went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, three runs scored, two steals and an RBI and also picked up the victory with eight strikeouts in the 2008 state title game… Hit a game-winning grand slam in the first round of the regional playoffs… Fort Hill also won two straight Cumberland City and Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference championships with a combined 40-5 record in 2008 and 2009… Named Fort Hill High School’s Most Outstanding Junior Female Athlete in 2008 and the school’s best senior softball player in 2009… Also lettered in basketball and volleyball at Fort Hill, earning First-Team All-Area volleyball honors twice, as well as being named the school’s best senior volleyball player in 2009… An honor roll student… Chose UMBC over University of Maryland… Daughter of Elwood Beavers and Freda Herrell… Has three sisters, Krystal, Crystal and Jessica, and two brothers, Elwood and Pete… Born June 13, 1991… An engineering major.
