2009: Started all 54 games in which she played, primarily in center field… Batted .360 with 39 hits and ranked second on the team with 31 RBI and third with six home runs as UMBC’s primary cleanup hitter… Led the Retrievers with 23 walks – the third-most in the America East – and reached base at a 36.4 percent clip… Also slugged .440 with 66 total bases, including seven doubles, and scored 21 runs… Ranked fourth all-time among UMBC sophomores in walks, ninth in homers and 10th in RBI… Posted eight multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI efforts… Hit .405 (17-for-42) with runners in scoring position… Had 13 two-out RBI… Also went 1-0 with a 4.67 ERA and eight strikeouts in 9.0 innings on the mound… Picked up her first career win in her collegiate pitching debut, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three in 3.2 innings of work against Iona (Feb. 28)… Earned All-Tournament Team honors at the UMBC Dawg Pound Tournament after batting .308 (4-for-13) and slugging .769 with two home runs and three RBI in five games (March 6-8)… Selected to the UMBC Retriever Classic All-Tournament Team after batting .364 (4-for-11) with two RBI and three runs scored in four games (March 14-15)… Went 3-for-4 with a double and a grand slam in the first game of the Mount St. Mary’s doubleheader (March 17)… Named to the UMBC Spring Classic All-Tournament Team after batting .429 (6-for-14) with four doubles and five RBI in five games (March 20-22)… Batted .611 (11-for-18) and slugged 1.056 with five doubles, a homer, five runs scored and nine RBI during a season-high seven game hitting streak from March 15-21… Had a pair of doubles and three RBI against Robert Morris (March 21)… Struck out a career-high four batters in three innings against Binghamton in her second career start on the mound (March 22)… Tied her career high with four RBI, including a three-run homer, in the first game of the Hartford doubleheader to help the Retrievers clinch their fourth straight berth in the America East Championships (May 2)… Also walked five times during that stretch… Recognized on the America East Honor Roll.

 

2008: Started 52 of 54 games for the Retrievers, primarily at first base and in right field… Batted .222 with 32 hits in 144 at-bats… Hit six doubles, drove in 14 runs and scored 16 times… Posted six multi-hit games on the season… Walked 15 times, the sixth-most ever by a Retriever freshman… Batted .389 (7-for-18) with four RBI, three doubles and three runs scored during a seven-game hitting streak (March 2-14)… Went 2-for-3 with a triple and a career-high three RBI against St. Peter’s (March 15)… Hit her first career home run in the second game of the Georgetown doubleheader (April 2)… Went 3-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored in the first game of the Stony Brook doubleheader (April 12)… Recognized on the America East Honor Roll.

 

Background: Transferred from 2007 national runner-up Tennessee, where she sat out her true freshman season as a redshirt… Earned Baltimore Sun All-Metro honors in 2005 and 2006, including first team as a junior, when she batted .561 with 32 hits, eight doubles, six homers, four triples, 28 RBI and 19 runs scored… Named the 2005 Harford County Player of the Year… A four-time All-County player … Named the Army Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2006… Participated in the 2006 All-Maryland Old-Line Classic… Member of the All-World Team at the 2005 USSSA World Series… Holds North Harford High School hitting records for career home runs (31), batting average and intentional walks, as well as the pitching mark for career strikeouts… Batted .755 at the 2005 NSFA World Series… Was intentionally walked 48 times during her senior year of high school… Once struck out 17 batters against Havre de Grace High School… Led North Harford to its first-ever regional championship appearance… Also a standout in volleyball and basketball, earning All-County honors in both sports as a junior and senior… Also competed in horseback riding and swimming… An Honor Roll student in high school and a Dean’s List student at Tennessee… Daughter of Darlene and Vince Culotta… Has a younger brother, Vincent IV… Born Aug. 11, 1988… A history major.
