Krissy Licursi

Position:
Undergraduate Assistant Coach

Krissy Licursi begins her first year as undergraduate assistant coach at UMBC. She returns to the Retrievers while finishing her undergraduate degree.

Licursi had an outstanding senior season in 2007, ranking second on the team with a .327 batting average and 49 hits, third with eight doubles and fourth with 27 RBI. The catcher started all but one game behind the plate, and she was also one of the toughest batters in the country to strike out (26th), as she was rung up just eight times in 150 at-bats.

Licursi hit one of the most dramatic home runs in UMBC history when she smashed a walk-off three-run home run to defeat Hartford, 3-2, in the 2007 America East Tournament and send the Retrievers to the championship game.

As a junior in 2006, her first season at UMBC, Licursi hit .278 and made 24 starts, primarily at catcher and in right field. She finished her career with a .311 batting average, a .441 slugging percentage and a .381 on-base percentage, in addition to a .993 field percentage, as she committed just three errors in 421 chances.

Licursi came to UMBC after two seasons at Sussex County College in New Jersey, where she was a two-time first-team NJCAA all-region XIX and first-team all-Garden State Atheltic Conference selection. She hit .484 with 61 RBI in two years at Sussex, and she was named a NFCA/NJCAA Division-III second-team all-American in 2005 after hitting .495 with 18 doubles and 42 RBI, leading her team to the GSAC championship.

The native of Sussex, N.J., and graduate of Vernon Township High School is majoring in social work and minoring in psychology at UMBC.
