Background:  Named the 2007 Capital District, Central Region and Richmond Times-Dispatch Metro Player of the Year… A four-time All-District player at Hanover High School, including first team in each of the last three seasons… Also a three-time All-Region selection, including first team as a junior and senior… Earned first-team All-State and All-Metro honors in her last two seasons… Also garnered honorable mention All-Metro as a sophomore… Named Richmond Times-Dispatch Player of the Week twice… Led the Hawks to a 26-2 record and the 2006 Virginia state title… Pitched six one-hit innings and struck out five batters while going 2-for-4 at the plate in the 3-0 championship game victory… Also led the Hawks to the state finals in 2007… Hit .516 with 48 hits and 20 RBI while also going 19-1 with a 0.77 ERA and 166 strikeouts in 118.2 innings as a senior… Hit .400 and went 9-1 with a 0.46 ERA as a junior… Struck out more than 400 batters in her career… Selected to play in the Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Star Game and went 1-for-3 with a stolen base… Also was a competitive cheerleader in high school… Earned All-Academic honors as a junior and senior… Daughter of Tom and Deena Brummell… Has an older sister, Stephanie… Born June 27, 1989… A biology major… Hopes to work in health care or diagnostic medicine.
