2007: Made just six starts and 11 appearances on the mound due to an injury that limited her pitching, but made 30 starts in 34 games in the outfield and at designated player… Batted .312 with 29 hits in 92 at-bats… Posted six doubles, a triple, four home runs and 17 RBI… Scored 14 runs on the season… Recorded 49 total bases and ranked third on the team with a .533 slugging percentage… Posted eight multi-hit games and five multi-RBI games… Went 4-5 with a 3.96 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 46.0 innings of work on the mound… Named America East Player of the Week on April 17 after hitting .571 (8-for-14) with seven RBI, three home runs, a double and a triple for 20 total bases and a 1.429 slugging percentage… Put together two four-game hitting streaks… Hit .900 (9-for-10) during the first (April 8-13) and .333 (4-for-12) during the second (April 14-18)… The two streaks were broken up by an 0-for-3 performance in the first game of the Vermont doubleheader (April 14)… Went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI and a run in the second game of the Albany doubleheader (April 8), then went 2-for-3 with two homers and three RBI the next day (April 9) against the Great Danes… Went 3-for-3 with a homerun and three RBI against Vermont (April 13)… Drove in the winning run with a walk-off triple in the second game of the Vermont doubleheader (April 14)… Pitched a complete game of the season in her first appearance on the mound, allowing three runs and seven hits while striking out four in a 5-3 victory over Bucknell (March 10)… Struck out a season-high six batters three times… Allowed just one unearned run, no walks and four hits while striking out six in a five-inning complete-game win over Sacred Heart at the UMBC Spring Classic (March 23)… Named to the UMBC Spring Classic All-Tournament Team after going 2-0 and not allowing an earned run in 6.1 innings of work, striking out seven and allowing just four hits and a walk… Struck out six batters and walked none while allowing just one run on two hits and three innings of relief in the second game of the Albany doubleheader and picked up the victory (April 8)… Struck out six batters in 4.1 scoreless innings of relief against Hartford (May 6).

 

2006: Made 30 appearances with 21 starts and posted a 13-8 record and 2.84 ERA in 135.2 innings pitched… Recorded 15 complete games and four shutouts… Held opponents to a team-best .235 batting average… Struck out 116 batters, fourth-most ever by a Retriever in a single season… Allowed 74 runs, 55 earned, 121 hits and 64 walks… Also picked up two saves on the season… Struck out 5.99 batters per game, sixth-best average in the conference… Ranked sixth in the America East in opponent batting average, seventh in wins and appearances, eighth in ERA and strikeouts, ninth in innings pitched and starts and tied for second in saves… Also hit .261 with 12 hits in 46 at-bats, making three starts in right field and 12 as the designated player… Scored six runs, drove in five, and hit one home run… Pitched a no-hitter in the UMBC Kickoff Classic championship game against Delaware State, striking out seven and walking just two in the complete game victory… Named to the Kickoff Classic All-Tournament Team… Tabbed Most Outstanding Pitcher of the UMBC Dawg Pound Tournament after winning three games and posting a 1.14 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched… Also went 5-for-9 (.562) at the plate with a pinch-hit home run, two runs scored and two RBI…The homer was against St. Francis (Pa.)… Named America East Rookie of the Week on March 14, covering all games leading up to that point… Selected to UMBC Spring Classic All-Tournament Team after picking up two wins and posting a 0.57 ERA in 12.1 innings pitched, as she allowed just five hits, two walks and one run while striking out 18… Struck out a season-high nine batters in the second game of the Maine double-header… Also struck out eight batters on three different occasions… Won three straight decisions from March 10-12 and again March 28-April 1… Posted a complete-game three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts against Vermont in the UMBC Dawg Pound Tournament… Pitched a five-inning one-hitter against Sacred Heart in the UMBC Spring Classic, then shut out Brown with a complete game four-hitter… Posted two multi-hit games, including a 2-for-3 performance against Vermont and a 2-for-4 performance with two runs scored against St. Peter’s in the Delaware State Bash at the Beach… Drove in two runs against Sacred Heart.

 

Background: Received first-team all-league honors in 2004… Was selected as Athlete of the Week by the Whittier Daily in 2005… Once went 6-for-7 with two home runs in a double-header… Led her team to a second-place finish in the Del Rio League… Also lettered in wrestling at Santa Fe and placed fifth in the California Women’s State Wrestling Tournament… Sang in the women’s ensemble choir and the jazz choir… Named Miss Santa Fe Springs 2004… Daughter of Sarah and Dave Kearns… Has three brothers, David, Jonathan and James… Born Nov. 5, 1986… Majoring in sociology and hopes to go into law enforcement.
