2007: Had an outstanding freshman season that culminated in America East All-Conference first team and All-Rookie team honors… Started all 50 games and batted .300 with 48 hits in 160 at-bats… Led the Retrievers with 13 home runs, 95 total bases and a .594 slugging percentage and ranked second with 35 RBI and 29 runs scored… Also clubbed six doubles… Set UMBC freshman records with 13 homers and 20 extra-base hits… Reached base at a 35.4 percent clip… Ranked among the leaders in the America East in home runs (2nd), total bases (3rd), RBI (5th), slugging percentage (6th) and at-bats (8th)… Ranked 45th in the country in home runs per game (0.26)… Ranked among UMBC’s all-time single-season leaders in home runs (4th) and slugging percentage (10th)… Also pitched to a 13-3 record with a 3.15 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 91.0 innings… Made 22 appearances and 15 starts on the mound… Pitched six complete games… Allow just a .213 opponent batting average… Ranked among the leaders in the America East in batting average against (2nd), fewest hits allowed (3rd, 72), fewest earned runs allowed (3rd, 41), fewest runs allowed (4th, 50), wins (T-5th), strikeouts per game (9th, 6.08) and ERA (10th)… Ranked among UMBC’s all-time single-season leaders in winning percentage (2nd, .813), fewest hits allowed (4th) and opponent batting average (T-8th)… Named America East Rookie of the Week on March 12 after hitting .333 (6-for-18) with a home run and three RBI and going 1-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 12.2 innings of work over the first six games of the season… Tabbed both America East Pitcher and Rookie of the Week on March 26 after going 3-0 with a 1.24 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 17.0 innings and batting .333 (9-for-27) and slugging .741 with three homers, a triple, 10 RBI and seven runs scored in nine games… Also earned ECAC Pitcher of the Week honors that same week… Selected to the America East All-Championship team after batting .357 (5-for-14) with a double, a homer, three RBI and three runs scored in four conference tournament games… Named co-MVP of the UMBC Spring Classic after hitting .385 (5-for-13) and slugging .846 with two homers and four RBI and going 1-0 with a 1.40 ERA… Posted nine multi-hit games and nine multi-RBI games… Finished the season on an eight-game hitting streak, second-longest on the team… Hit .346 (9-for-26) with a double, three homers, seven RBI and five runs scored over the last nine games of the season… Went 4-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run in the first game of the Towson doubleheader (April 17)… Hit the game-winning home run at Stony Brook (April 29)… Won eight straight decisions from March 19-April 14)… Threw a complete-game shutout in her collegiate pitching debut, limiting Howard to just four hits and one walk while striking out a season-high eight batters in the victory (March 9)… Pitched six shutout innings, allowing just two hits and two walks in the second game of the Maine doubleheader (March 31)… Pitched a complete-game shutout with four strikeouts in the first game of the Vermont doubleheader (April 14)… Struck out seven batters and allowed just three hits and one earned run in a win over Hartford (May 5)… Picked up the Retrievers’ last victory of the season after allowing two earned runs and three hits while striking out six in a complete game against the Hawks in the America East Championships (May 11)… Made 17 starts at first base and nine at third base, in addition to 24 at designated player.

 

Background: Two time Baltimore County Player of the Year by the Baltimore Sun… A four-time All-Metro honoree by The Sun… Named MVP of her high school team all four years… Posted a 17-4 record and a 0.80 ERA with 211 strikeouts in 124 innings as a senior… Compiled a career record of 58-9 with 769 strikeouts in four years… Also batted cleanup for the Comets and hit .466 with four home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored in 2006… Pitched a perfect game in the regional championship, striking out 19 batters… Led the Comets to the county title in 2003 and 2005 and to the regional title and state championship game in 2003 and 2006… A member of the National Honor Society and Best Buddies in high school… Daughter of Dotty and Jay Fefel… Has a younger sister, Ashley… Born Sept. 28, 1988… A marketing major with a minor in communications.
