Background: Played at East Carolina in 2003 before sitting out the last two seasons and transferring to UMBC… Posted an 8-6 record and a 2.52 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 86.0 innings with the Pirates… Four-time all-county and two-time all-metro selection at North County High School… Team captain as a senior… Led the Knights to the state championship in 2000 and 2002… Struck out 19 of 21 batters in the state semifinal game in 2000… Also lettered in volleyball for four years and basketball for two years in high school… Daughter of Lucy Tate and Bob Boyd… Father played professional baseball… Has two sisters, Sarah and Jilienne… Born Sept. 20, 1984… Majoring in economics… Hopes to one day own a restaurant.
