On Olivieri: Will start the season competing for time at second and third base and in the corner outfield positions…a very hard worker who showed plenty of promise this fall…a very good baserunner…has good bat speed and makes good contact at the plate…a team player who gives 100 percent every day.

 

Background: A four-year starter on the varsity softball team at Aquinas… A four-time all-Private Parochial team selection… Received third-team all-state honors in 2005 and all-sectional team honors in 2004 and 2005… Named team MVP in 2004 and 2005… Led her team to three Private Parochial championships and two sectional titles… Once went 5-for-5 with two doubles and a triple in one game… Also excelled in volleyball and track at Aquinas and was a four-year starter on the varsity volleyball team… Daughter of Gino and Janet Olivieri… Father played football at Delaware and for the Detroit Lions… Mother played field hockey at Delaware… Older brother, Frank, played baseball at Ithaca… Older sister, Gina, is a teammate at UMBC… Born July 25, 1986… Intends to major in financial economics and hopes to become an accountant.
