On Kearns: Power pitcher who throws 61-63 mph with a variety of pitches…key recruit…should be one of the top freshmen in the America East and potentially the Mid-Atlantic region…outstanding athlete…a good hitter who can play the corner outfield positions when not pitching…has a powerful throwing arm from the outfield…had a great fall and seems to be adjusting to the 43-foot pitching mound…will pitch as both a starter and a reliever.
Background: Received first-team all-league honors in 2004… Was selected as Athlete of the Week by the Whittier Daily in 2005… Once went 6-for-7 with two home runs in a double-header… Led her team to a second-place finish in the Del Rio League… Also lettered in wrestling at Santa Fe and placed fifth in the California Women’s State Wrestling Tournament… Sang in the women’s ensemble choir and the jazz choir… Named Miss Santa Fe Springs 2004... Daughter of Sarah and Dave Kearns… Has three brothers, David, Jonathan and James… Born Nov. 5, 1986… Majoring in sociology and hopes to go into law enforcement.
