On Bennett: Had a very solid fall season after spending two years as a pinch hitter and role player…the leading candidate for designated hitter if she can stay consistent with the bat…may also see time at third base and in right field…has shown the ability to hit the ball to all fields with line drive power…a role model student-athlete who is one of the hardest workers on the team…could have a breakout season.

 

2005: Played in 31 games, starting 15, and hit .154 with eight hits, including a home run and three doubles, in 52 at-bats… Posted six RBI and scored three runs.

 

2004: Played in 42 games, starting 13 as a walk-on… Became the team’s top pinch-hitter with spot starts as a catcher and designated hitter… Had a .207 batting average with two doubles, seven walks and 10 RBI.

 

Background: Was recognized as first-team all-county by the Howard County Times and second-team all-Metro by The Baltimore Sun in 2003… Was selected as team MVP in 2000... A member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society... Also lettered in volleyball at Mt. Hebron, where her team won the 3A East Regional title and went on to be state finalists... Born Oct. 2, 1985... Daughter of Holly and Janine Bennett... Has a younger brother, Holly IV… Majoring in psychology.
