On Shore: A very strong defensive catcher who calls a very good game…will see time at catcher, first base, right field and designated hitter…looking to put together an even better sophomore season after making the conference all-rookie team in 2005…was very streaky at the plate last season but has improved her hitting…is now driving the ball to all fields on a consistent basis…battled a back injury late in the fall season.

 

2005: Played 53 games, starting 51, and hit .215 with 32 hits in 149 at-bats to earn America East all-rookie tTeam honors after emerging as one of the best catchers in the league… Scored 15 runs and posted 17 RBI… Knocked five doubles and five home runs… Was 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts… Hit a two-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh in UMBC’s 2-0 victory over America East rival Vermont on April 9.

 

Background: Received all-league, all-area and second-team all-state honors as a senior… Also earned all-league and all-area honors as a junior… Participated in the all-district game during her junior and senior years and in the Gold Nationals at Georgia in summer 2004… Led her team to the district championship in 2002… A three-time letterwinner in both basketball and volleyball… Full name is Stephanie Darlene Shore… Daughter of Vernon and Julia Shore… Has two older brothers, Jared and David, and an older sister, Sarah… Born May 21, 1986… A pre-nursing major who hopes to become a registered nurse.
