America East Release

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – UMBC softball's freshman Jessica Holte (Ashland, Va./Atlee) earned her fourth America East honor of the season by being named the AEC Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the conference office Tuesday.

Holte posted a 3-1 mark in the circle with a 1.70 ERA on a 5-2 week for the Retrievers. The rookie tossed 24.2 innings of work, allowing six earned runs and walked just one batter.

Holte opened the week allowing just two hits and no earned runs in a 9-1 win against Rhode Island on Tuesday. The Ashland, Va., native registered her first career shutout in a 3-0 win against Drexel on Friday and became the fastest UMBC rookie pitcher to 11 victories following her 6-1 win versus Hampton on Sunday. She tallied a season-best seven strikeouts in the victory.

Holte and the Retrievers return to action at the 11th annual UMBC Spring Classic over the weekend.
