Katie Ferguson Named to the ECAC Division I Softball All-Stars

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Former UMBC softball player Katie Ferguson (North East, Md./North East/Cecil CC) has been named to the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division I Softball All-Star Second Team.

Ferguson earned NFCA All-Region Second Team and America East First Team honors as a utility player in her final season with the Retrievers. The North East, Md., native led UMBC in wins (eight), ERA (3.24) and innings pitched (103.2) in 2012. Her 87 strikeouts were more than any other pitcher on the Retrievers' staff and ranked fifth in the conference.

At the plate, Ferguson batted .261, fourth-highest on the team, with 37 hits, including four doubles and three home runs. She drove in 14 runs on the year and ranked fourth on the team in runs scored (15).
