Softball Notebook: Softball’s Alumni Game Moved to 1 p.m., Bull Roast Date Announced

BALTIMORE – UMBC softball head coach Joe French has announced updates to the squads fall lineup.

Alumni Game Time Change: The softball alumni game, originally scheduled for noon, has been moved to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. A cookout is still scheduled to follow the contest, which will be played at the UMBC Softball Stadium.

Bull Roast Date Announced: The annual Bull Roast has been scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Knights of Columbus Columbian Center in Severna Park on Ritchie Highway. Tickets for the event purchased before Jan. 15 will be $40.00. The price increases to $42.00 if you purchase Jan. 16-Feb. 1 or you can buy tickets at the door for $45.00.

Fall Clinic Spots: The first of two fall clinics that will be offered in October by the UMBC softball team is set for Sunday, Oct. 14, 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spots are still available for ages 7-18 to join. Other clinic dates include, Saturday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 9 (indoor). The clinic includes instruction from head coach Joe French, staff and current UMBC Retriever student-athletes. Scrimmage games will be played in the afternoon of both outdoor clinics. All other sessions will cover hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching mechanics as well as conditioning and the softball recruiting process. The cost is $65.00 for one clinic, $105.00 for two and $145.00 for all three clinics. Scholastic Tournament Pairings: The pairings for the fourth annual UMBC Scholastic Tournament have been announced. The tournament will take place at the UMBC Softball Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21.
