UMBC Softball Announces Fall Schedule
BALTIMORE – The UMBC softball team has its fall ball schedule set, as announced on Monday by head coach Joe French. The Retrievers will take part in three tournaments, including the UMBC Fall Classic Tournament and the UMBC Fall Harvest Tournament.
UMBC will open the fall with a scrimmage at Coppin State on Friday, Sept. 14 at 4:30 p.m. The following weekend the Retrievers host the UMBC Fall Classic Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 22. The black and gold take on the CCBC-Catonsville at 10:30 a.m. and Towson at 3:00 p.m.
The Retrievers travel to Towson on Saturday, Sept. 29 for the Towson Fall Tournament, where UMBC will matchup in a doubleheader against Georgetown and Towson. The following day, the Retrievers return home for a scrimmage versus Catholic at 10:30 a.m.
The Retrievers will welcome McDaniel College and Howard to the UMBC Softball Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 6 for the UMBC Fall Harvest Tournament.
UMBC will travel to George Mason for a 4:30 p.m. scrimmage against the Patriots on Friday, Oct. 12. The softball team will conclude its fall action with an alumni game at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13.
The Retrievers will host two clinics during the fall, the first on Sunday, Oct. 14 and the second on Saturday, Oct. 27. Attendees will get instruction from French, staff and current UMBC Retrievers student-athletes. Sessions will cover hitting, fielding, throwing and pitching mechanics as well as condition and the softball recruiting process.
