Softball’s Taylor Hall Named America East Rookie of the Week

America East Release

CAMBRIDGE, MASS. – UMBC softball freshman Taylor Hall (Cosby, Va./Cosby) was named the season's first America East Rookie of the Week for the game week ending Feb.26, the conference office announced on Monday.

At this past weekend's Charleston Southern Tournament, Hall hit .500, with three doubles and three RBI.   In UMBC's win over Hampton on Sunday, the freshman went 2-for-4 with one double, while driving in three runs and scoring one as well.

For the season, Hall is second on the team with a .391 batting average, while leading the Retrievers with four RBI.  In the field, she has already made 17 put outs and holds a perfect fielding percentage.

Hall is the first Retriever to earn America East Rookie of the Week honors since teammate Jessica Warner (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) on Apr. 11, 2011.

UMBC returns to action on Wednesday, when they travel to in-state rival Towson.  First pitch between the Retrievers and Tigers is set for 2 p.m.
