UPDATE: Softball's Doubleheader with Albany Postponed Until Sunday due to Rain; First Pitch Set for 2:15 p.m.
BALTIMORE, Md. - Due to rain in the Baltimore area, Saturday's doubleheader between the UMBC softball team and Albany has been postponed until Sunday afternoon. The Retrievers and Great Danes will take the field on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 2:15 p.m.
The two teams will try to play at least one game tomorrow, and two if the weather permits. Monday's makeup day will be used to host at least one game depending on Sunday's weather.
Prior to the season, UMBC was picked to finish fourth in the America East while Albany was picked second, just behind 2011 regular season co-champion Boston U. The Great Danes also received two first place votes in the poll.
UMBC enters 2012 conference play with a 72-87 (.453) all-time record in America East competition after posting an 8-10 mark a year ago. The Retrievers began competing in the America East in 2004 and are entering their nine season in the league.
