Softball Heads to South Carolina to Play in the Charleston Southern Tournament

BALTIMORE, MD. – The UMBC Softball team (1-3) heads south this weekend to play in the Charleston Southern Tournament in Charleston, S.C.  The Retrievers will face Wright State and Hampton on Friday, before taking on the host Buccaneers on Saturday.  The top two teams advance to Saturday afternoon's final game.

Freshmen Courtney Reinfeld (Parkland, Fla. /Stoneman Douglas) has already impressed in her brief career, picking up the game winning hit against Seton Hall last Saturday. Classmate Taylor Hall (Cosby, Va./Cosby) also made a footprint while picking up three hits last weekend, including two against Longwood on Friday.

After making her first appearances for the Retrievers at the Lancer Lead Off, freshmen Miranda Clark (Tampa, Fla./H.B. Plant) holds a team-best ERA recording at 2.10.

Katie Ferguson (North East, Md./North East/Cecil CC) and Kaila Balatgek (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) each hit a homerun during last weekend's season-opening tournament.

In South Carolina, the Retrievers will take on Wright State at 9 a.m. on the morning of Friday, followed by a game with Hampton at 1pm.
