UMBC Softball Announces Fall Schedule
The UMBC softball team has its fall ball schedule set, as announced on Monday by head coach Joe French. The Retrievers will take part in three tournaments, including the UMBC Fall Classic Tournament and the UMBC Fall Harvest Tournament.

STARKVILLE, MISS – UMBC softball sophomore Jessica Warner (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) and senior Katie Ferguson (North East, Md./North East/Cecil CC) have been named to the NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Thursday afternoon.

BALTIMORE – Freshman catcher Taylor Hall (Cosby, Va./Cosby) went 2-for-4 and hit her seventh homerun of the year on Saturday, but it was not enough as Boston University (3-14, 13-3 AE) defeated UMBC (19-29, 1-15 AE), 6-4, in the series opener at the UMBC Softball Stadium.

ORONO, Maine – Maine’s Jennifer Eberhardt hit a one-out fly ball to center field and Brynne Davis raced home with the game’s only win as the Black Bears finished off a sweep of UMBC, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at Kessock Field.

BALTIMORE, Md. – UMBC sophomore Caitlin Chance (Easton, Md./Easton) laid down a squeeze bunt with no outs in the bottom of the seventh and senior Katrina Gaar (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar/Orange Coast CC) raced home from third as the Retrievers scored two runs in the inning to earn a walk-off victory against the St. Peter’s Peahens, 4-3, and split Sunday’s doubleheader at the UMBC Softball Stadium and after dropping the first game of the day, 8-3.

BALTIMORE, Md. – UMBC senior Angela Yannone (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) recorded four hits and belted two homeruns as the Retrievers swept both games of Saturday’s doubleheader against St. Peter’s at the UMBC Softball Stadium to improve to 16-14 on the season.

BALTIMORE, Md. – Freshman Courtney Paone (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) drove a fly ball to right field that was misplayed by the outfielder, allowing Katrina Gaar (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar/Orange Coast CC) to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh as the UMBC softball team (12-14, 1-2 America East) rallied to defeat Albany (13-7, 2-1 America East), 4-3, Monday afternoon at the UMBC Softball Stadium.
