BALTIMORE—Seniors Lauren Brummell (Hanover, Va./Hanover) andJulia Culotta (Street, Md./North Harford/Tennessee) were named to the Dawg Pound Invitational All-Tournament Team, UMBC head coach Joe French announced Monday.
Brummell batted .375 (6-for-16) with four runs scored, three RBI and three stolen bases in five games last weekend. The second baseman collected three extra-base hits, slugging a team-best .750, and also walked four times for a .500 on-base percentage. Brummell hit for the cycle againstMorgan State, going 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI.
Culotta batted .417 (5-for-12) with four runs scored and two RBI in five games. The third baseman/outfielder also walked five times for a team-best .588 on-base percentage while slugging .667. Culotta hit her first home run of the season against Morgan State, and also drove in the go-ahead run in UMBC's five-run fifth inning against Drexel.
The Retrievers return to action on Wednesday, when they host George Mason at 3:30 p.m.
